12/5/14 – One of our neighbors on 82nd Court, the first cul-de-sac on the left coming into our neighborhood, house was broken into on Thursday 12/4. Apparently the thief/thieves used a tool (a post hole digger) that was in a neighbors yard to pry open the back window of the house. They went through drawers and night stands and stole jewelry. They seemed to be targeting the jewelry because they did not take any electronics,(there was an IPad in plain view). Most of the jewelry stolen was gold. They believe it happened between 5:15 and 6:15. The police believe they were in and out pretty quickly. They dusted for finger prints but did not find any.
If anyone saw anything suspicious around that time on please let us know. Please keep an eye out for anything suspicious and call the police if you see anything.
3/12/13 – One of our neighbors on the end of 83rd Street had their backyard motion detector lights broken out last week. The bulbs on their front motion detectors were also loosened. They found marks on their sliding glass doors where someone tried to pry it open, but fortunately, they did not get in. It’s possible the intruders were scared off by the homeowner’s dog.
1/20/13 – There were two reports of crime overnight in the neighborhood. It is believed these crimes occurred between midnight and 6am. They were near each other and probably related.
Someone went through a car on the 8300 block of 81st Terrace and stole paperwork, personal items and a garage door opener. The thieves also opened the garage, but it doesn’t appear anything was taken. It is believed the car was unlocked. Also, a truck was stolen on the 8300 block of NW 82nd Terrace. The owners wallet was inside. There was no broken glass, but there are not sure if the truck was broken into or unlocked. Both these homes are along Conant and back up to each other. If you haven’t already, you might check your own vehicles if they were parked outside last night. Please let us know if anyone saw anything suspicious last night or if anyone else has had anything stolen.
11/29/12 – A home on North Nodaway Ave was broken into and burglarized. They broke in through the walk-out basement door, went through all the drawers in the house, took jewelry, electronics and guns. Please be aware of this serious crime and call the police if you see anything suspicious.
8/15/12 – The back flow control unit at the front entrance for the sprinkler system has been stolen for the second time this year. A rock cover to conceal it was taken as well. This looks to have occurred on Sunday night. The total cost for replacing the last one along with the cover to hide it was around $1000. We have contacted the landscape company and will be working with them to get a quote on a permanent lock box to put around the new unit when it is installed. Please be aware of this crime and contact the police if you see anything suspicious in the future.

11/21/06 – Notice from a Neighbor – just wanted you to be aware of what went on tonight (Tuesday 11/21) around
7:30. I happened to look out my front window and looked over at the Powell’s – 8218 NW 82nd Court house and saw an African American male that looked to be in his teens trying to use the keyless entry on their garage. He tried to use it a couple of times and had no luck. He was wearing blue jeans and a white jersey shirt. After trying to use the keyless entry he then walked between the Powell’s and May’s houses back towards the Mays’ back yard by their trees. A minute or two later the same individual came walking back toward the Powell’s house toward the back of their house. Michael went across the street w/his flashlight and checked everything out and couldn’t find anything. The Powell’s were gone and their house was totally dark. I finally got in touch w/Amy and told her what happened. I then went in Amy/Ryan’s and turned on some lights to make it look like someone was home. I did call the May’s to make to see if Amy may have called them or something to get in their house or something and she said both her boys’ were inside. I just thought you should know since you are the block watch captain.
